Why I Wrote This Book ?
For nearly two decades, I've worked in healthcare and dedicated my life to caring for others. Throughout my career, I witnessed something that wasn't talked about enough—the emotional and energetic toll caregiving takes on those who do it every day.
Healthcare professionals are expected to remain strong in the face of illness, trauma, grief, stress, and loss. We often move from one difficult situation to the next without ever being taught how to process what we're carrying or how to protect ourselves from burnout.
Over time, I saw talented, compassionate professionals become emotionally exhausted, disconnected from themselves, and overwhelmed by the weight of constantly caring for others. I experienced many of these challenges myself.
As a Respiratory Therapist, Certified Health Coach, Reiki Master, and former IFBB Professional Athlete, I've spent years studying the connection between stress, the nervous system, emotional well-being, and recovery. What I discovered is that caring for others sustainably requires learning how to care for ourselves, too.
I wrote Empaths in Scrubs to provide the resource I wish existed earlier in my healthcare career—a practical guide filled with tools to help healthcare professionals regulate their nervous systems, establish healthy boundaries, protect their energy, recover from compassion fatigue, and reconnect with themselves after caring for everyone else.
Because those who care for the world deserve care, too.
